Forrest W. ‘Punk’ Kistler, 85, of Brownstown, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at Marion V.A. Community Living Center, Marion.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9 at Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown with Bruce Sasse officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia with military rites by Brownstown V.F.W. Post #9770. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Forrest Wayne Kistler was born on Sunday, March 29, 1931 in Vandalia Township, rural Vandalia, IL to Clarence and Dorothy (Forbes) Kistler. He married Francis Joyce Arbgast on March 18, 1951. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a retired farmer, and a retired Teamster with Yellow Freight Systems.
He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Francis Joyce Kistler of Brownstown; sons, Michael Kistler and his wife Nancy, Ronald Kistler and his special friend Cindy Wright, Larry Kistler and his wife Jami, all of Brownstown; 6 grandchildren, Wes Kistler of Brownstown, Brooke Kistler of Brownstown, Lindsay Kistler of Effingham, Andrew Kistler of Vandalia, Emilee Kistler of Effingham, and Ariana Kistler of Brownstown; 3 great grandchildren, Maxx Kistler, Jordan Mayer and Willow Mayer; brothers, Wally Kistler and his wife Jean of Arthur, John Kistler of Vandalia, and Mike Kistler of Vandalia; sisters, Shirley Holman of Vandalia, Jane Emerick of Vandalia and Mary Chambers of Mt. Olive.
Forrest was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Kistler and sisters, Carol Harris and Donna Bell.
