Pauline Marie Wolff-DeVantier, 98 years old of Altamont, Illinois died early Thursday evening on February 2, 2017 at 7:44 pm at the Lutheran Care Center, Altamont, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8, at 11:00am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont. Visitation will be held after 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday February 7, 2017 at the Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont. There will also be a short visitation at the church from 10:00 AM until the service. Christian Burial Rites will be immediately after the funeral services, at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid/LWML, or the Lutheran Care Center/Luther Terrace, 203 East Division Street, Altamont, IL 62411.

Pauline was born into the Christian family of Rudolph and Anna Proefrock one of 10 siblings. She began her long life on October 13, 1918 at the family farm, mound township, Effingham County in the Bethlehem Community. She was baptized at home on October 20, 1918. Instructed in the Christian faith by her parents and pastor, she grew as a Christian and was confirmed in her faith at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Altamont by the Rev. M.W. Pott. She married Edward (Bud) DeVantier on December 27, 1941 at her grandparent’s home in Altamont by Dr. Rev. M.J. Naumann. Bud preceded her in death on December 8, 2002. Pauline assisted her husband with farming and raising a family of four. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1932, where she worked with the Ladies Aid, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Sunday school and Bible Study as a teacher. She was also a member of the Effingham County Homemaker’s Extension and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her: 2-Sons: Larry and Wife Carolyn DeVantier of Gravois Mills, Missouri and their daughter Kristen and husband Bart Duesdieker and their children Eric and Taylor and Bruce and wife Karen DeVantier of Murphysboro, Illinois and their 3-children: Matthew and wife Lesley Lawrence and their son Xavier David Lawrence, Brittany DeVantier and husband Jeffrey Hanse and their children: Brandt and Keagan; 2-Daughters: Joan Casleton of Moberly, Missouri and her son: Edward and wife Susan Casleton and their children: Justin and Rachel, Denise and her husband Gordon Stine of St. Elmo, Illinois and their children: Tamara Springer and her children: Elise, Hannah, and Nicole McKnight and Maya Springer, Christopher and wife Tabitha Stine and their children: Logan, Kaiden and Madyson, Michael and wife Laura Stine and their children: Andrew, Brandon and Jacob, Pamela and husband Ryan Armstrong; 3-Brothers: Lester Wolff of Elyria, Ohio, Delmer Wolff of Glasgow, Kentucky and LeRoy and wife Eileen Wolff of Wyandotte, Michigan; 1-Sister-in-law: Mrs. Ruben (Una) Wolff of Madison, Wisconsin; and Several Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in Death by: Parents: Rudolph Wolff and Anna Proefrock-Wolff; Husband: Edward “Bud” Martin DeVantier; Son-in-law: Samuel Casleton; 4-Brothers: Rueben Wolff; Herbert Wolff and his wife Peggy Wolff; Raymond and his wife Bernice Wolff and Eldon Wolff in Infancy; 2-Sisters: Irene and her husband Johnny Hrdina and Edith Wolff in Infancy; 2-Sisters-in-law: Mrs. Lester, Rosalin Wolff and Mrs. Delmer, Helen Wolff.
