Forrest A. Nees, 89, of Louisville, IL, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at The Glenwood in Effingham, IL, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 4 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Bible Grove, IL, with military rites. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Forrest to HSHS Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Forrest was born on October 1, 1927, in Poland, IN, the son of Hugh and Verna (Hauck) Nees. He married Ruth Raab on July 1, 1950, in Poland, IN, and she survives. Forrest was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He loved farming, raising livestock, and woodworking. Forrest really loved working. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Bible Grove.

Forrest is survived by his wife of 66 ½ years, Ruth Nees of Louisville; daughter, Conni (Jeff) Cash of Effingham; grandchildren, Megan (Chad) Kutscher of Rochester, IL and Michael Cash of Minneapolis, MN; three great-grandchildren, Landon, Grant, and Annelise Kutscher; siblings, Norma McDonald of Mabank, TX, Wayne (Roberta) Nees of Poland, IN, Kenneth (Diane) Nees of Poland, IN; Pat (Jim) Reberger of Brazil, IN, Bob (Gloria) Nees of Greencastle, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gailard (Florence) Nees; Dorothy (Maxwell) Jerry, Marion (Joyce) Nees, and brother-in-law, Charlie McDonald.
