Betty was born on February 18, 1931 in St. Peter, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Etta (Moeller) Schnake. She married Raymond “Jack” Herman Rubin on June 18, 1950 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois. She was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid and in later years, enjoyed quilting with the other members. She was a past president of the St. Peter Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a 4H leader for several years. Betty was always willing to donate her time and baked goods to various church and community activities. Her working career started at the First State Bank of St. Peter. She then worked at Rubin’s Grocery. Following that, she was employed for many years at the ADM St. Peter Grain Elevator as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1996. Family and friends were so important to her. As smart as they come, she could beat anyone in SCRABBLE on any given day. Betty also enjoyed playing Pinochle and Dominoes. Her ability to cook and bake delicious food without following a recipe was amazing as were her quilting skills. Her family will cherish the quilts and afghans she made for them. She was a faithful, loving and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Betty is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” Rubin of St. Peter, Illinois; daughter, Nancy Bradley (husband Steve) of Bethalto, Illinois; three sisters, Elaine Kruger (husband Richard) of Rolesville, North Carolina, Charlene Courson (husband Gale) of Farina, Illinois, Fran Wald (husband Justin) of Springfield, Missouri; two grandchildren, Kristin Slocum (husband Stephen) of Chesterfield, Missouri and Kellie Srum (husband Clark) of St. Charles, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Benton Slocum of Chesterfield, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Etta Schnake; husband, Raymond “Jack” Rubin; two sisters, Bernice Rubin and Doris Mercier.
