Richard E. “Dick” Bilbrey, 87, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, February 1 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Dick to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Richard was born on August 23, 1929, in Arthur, IL, the son of Clarence and Lola (Ashwill) Bilbrey. He married Charlotte Crispin on March 2, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL. Dick served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Fedders after 41 years. He enjoyed family gatherings, reading, golfing, and traveling.

Dick is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Bilbrey of Effingham; three children, Steven (Kate) Bilbrey of Effingham, Christy (special friend, Gary Crabtree) Hogue of Poteet, TX, and Rich (Sandra) Bilbrey of Auburn; nine grandchildren, Tim (special friend, Addie Urfer) Bilbrey, Craig (fiancée, Sandy Berry) Bilbrey, Michael Bilbrey, Jamie Bilbrey, Eric (Ashley) Bilbrey, Dan (Hallie) Bilbrey, Blake Wiedman, Brett (fiancée, Kayla Castle) Wiedman, and Brock Wiedman; great-grandchildren, Haley, Bentley, Maddox, and Ava; brother, Joe Bilbrey of Hindsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Scott; and infant grandson, Bryce Wiedman.
