Ruby Higgenbotham, age 76, of Farina, Illinois passed away at 10:53 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 23 at Pagel Funeral Home in Edgewood, Illinois with one hour viewing prior to service. Lester Halterman will be officiating. Burial will be at Browns Cemetery in Edgewood, Illinois. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials may go to Pagel Funeral Home to offset expenses or donor’s choice.

Ruby was born on June 7, 1940 in Effingham County, Illinois to James and Georgia (Landrath) Hites. She married Marvin Higgenbotham on ­­­­­­April 7, 1979 in Farina, Illinois.

She is survived by her husband Marvin Higgenbotham of Farina, Illinois; three  daughters, Marlena McCoy (husband Mike) of Farina, Illinois, Debbie Holmes (husband Jim) of Olney, Illinois, and Connie Holzl of Wisconsin; three sons, Glen Hawkey and Earl Hawkey Jr. (wife Angela) both of Colorado, Bruce Hawkey of Clay City, Illinois, and Eddie Hawkey of St. Peter, Illinois;  two brothers, Edgar Hites (wife Rita) of Altamont, Illinois, Larry Hites of Farina, Illinois; one sister, Georgia Simmons (husband Noel) of Mason, Illinois; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Georgia Hites and one sister, Joann Allen.
