Randy G. “Bub” Ahten, 66, of Altamont, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Randy to his family.

Randy was born on February 21, 1950, in Peoria, IL, the son of George G. and Helen L. (Walker) Ahten. He married Susan E. Mason on August 7, 1987, in Effingham, IL, and she survives.

Randy was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, and especially enjoyed watching them win the World Series. He also enjoyed metal detecting and fishing. During his employment at World Color Press, Randy met his wife Susan. He later achieved his physical therapist assistant degree, and last worked for Clay County In-Home Health Care. Randy was a people person, but most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Randy is survived by his wife, Susan Ahten of Altamont; children, Jorri (Don) Webster of Farina, and Lucas Ahten of Altamont; and grandson, Landon Webster of Farina.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ron Ahten.
