Paul Schottman, 63, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, January 12 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Montrose. Burial will be in the St. Rose Cemetery in Montrose. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Paul to the American Diabetes Association.

Paul was born on June 10, 1953, in St. Francis Township, IL, the son of Walter and Gertrude (Jansen) Schottman. He married Paula Hildebrand on June 11, 1982, and to this union were born two children, Brian and Jennifer. Paul was a member of the Effingham County Sportman’s Club. He enjoyed skeet and trap shooting and excelled at the sport. He really enjoyed his granddaughter, Payton. Paul loved and cared for his children, and would do anything for them. A big part of his life was spent farming and helping with Schottman Sweet Corn sales.

Paul is survived by his children, Brian Schottman and Jennifer (Douglas) Webb both of Mattoon; granddaughter, Payton Webb; mother of Paul’s children, Paula Schottman of Mattoon; brothers, Robert (Carole) Schottman of Lake Oswego, OR, Carl (Judy) Schottman of Dieterich, Fred (Althea) Schottman of Woodville, VA, Ron Schottman of Wheeler, and Mark (Betty) Schottman of Effingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
