Betty L. Winnett, 87, of Gays, Illinois, formerly of Charleston,  passed away at 1:30 A.M., Thursday, January 5, 2017 in her residence in Gays.
 
Betty was born January 8, 1929 in Charleston, Illinois, the daughter of Albert and Mary Ethel (Griswould) Childress. She married Robert Winnett, November 13, 1954 in Alcorn, County, MS. Betty was employed by the Zenith Corporation of Paris, Il and she retired from the Eastern Illinois University from the Maintenance Department. Betty enjoyed Gardening, visitation with friends, relatives and helping others. 
 
She leaves one nephew, Randy L. Childress and special friend Kim King of Gays, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Winnett; four brothers, Ralph, Clinton, James and Elmo Childress: one sister, Lottie Childress.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A. M., Tuesday, January 10, 2017, in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, IL, with the Rev. Pat Powers officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour before the services on Tuesday, at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Branch Side Cemetery of Gays, Illinois. The Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, is in charge of arrangements.
