Clara Mae Ervin, 68, of Newton, Illinois passed away at 1:28 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 11 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday evening at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery Hidalgo, IL.

Clara Mae was born on July 2, 1948 in Cumberland County IL to Robert and Josephine (McClain) Boswell. She married Roger H. Ervin on March 26, 1971.

Surviving is her husband; children Dean (Stephanie) Ervin of Newton and June (Josh) Weiscope of Newton; brother Bill Boswell of Toledo, Joe (Linda) Boswell of Louisville, Ed (Sue) Boswell of Effingham; sister Debra Cordes of Villa Grove; Brother in law John Wilson; grandchildren Dawson Ervin and Leah Ervin (Fiancé Tyler Rowe) and Memphis Weiscope; Step Great grandson Mason Barnes-Houser, and a great grandchild due in July.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Darrell Boswell and sisters Emma Lawhorn, Pat Shaw- Glidewell, Alice Wilson and Betty Dossett.

Clara Mae was a cook at the Newton Senior Center for 25 years, before that she worked at Ettelbrick Shoe Company. For 13 years she was Team Mom for the 7-8-9- Boys Little League Baseball teams that her husband coached. She loved Cardinal Baseball, word searches, her grandkids and talking and visiting with family and friends.
