Paula D. Shelton, 71, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

According to Paula’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Private family services will be held at a later date. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be made in loving memory of Paula to the Effingham County Humane Society, P.O. Box 321, Effingham, IL 62401 or the American Heart Association.

Paula was born on May 2, 1945, in Hayward, CA, the daughter of Paul and Edith (Huffman) Shelton. Throughout the course of her life, she was a wife, mother, and homemaker. Paula loved to knit, crochet, and cook, and was very devoted to family and friends. She also had a deep love of animals and children.

Paula is survived by her son, Paul (Julia) Wilburn of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
