Marie Ella Falk (92) of Stewardson

Marie Ella Falk, 92, of Stewardson, Illinois passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Visitation will be Monday, December 26 from 10-11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Strasburg followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steven Becker officiating.  Burial will be at the Stewardson Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the church.  Brummerstedt Funeral Home, Stewardson is assisting the family.

Marie was born April 7, 1924 in Stewardson, the daughter of Albert and Emma (Schultz) Wittenberg.  She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in May of 1924, was confirmed and joined Trinity Lutheran Church, Stewardson May 16, 1939.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Strasburg.  She worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Mattoon until 1945.  She married Joe Falk December 29, 1945 in Stewardson. Together they owned and operated the Findlay and Stewardson Fabric Center until the late 80’s.  Marie enjoyed sewing and quilting.

Surviving are her children Jacque (husband Rick) Stodden of Stewardson, Frank Falk of Ft. Worth, TX, six grandchildren Jennifer, Kathie, James, Kirtis Stodden, Jessica (husband James) Byers and Jacob Falk, four great-grandchildren, two brothers Lloyd (wife Shirley) Wittenberg, Paul Wittenberg both of Effingham, many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son Jeffrey, one sister and five brothers.
