Allen Dale Wetherholt, 77, of Wheeler, Illinois passed away at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in rural Jasper County.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 28 at the Latona Church of Christ in Latona with Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery, west of Latona. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 27 at the church with masonic services at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Latona Church of Christ. Allen Dale was born in Robinson February 6, 1939, the son of Leland and Amy (Stockwell) Wetherholt. He married the love of his life, Ruth Shadle February 10, 1961 in Dieterich and she preceded him in death December 10, 2016. Allen Dale retired from the Newton Power Station after many years of service. He also worked at Dan Hecht Chevrolet in Effingham and at the Effingham Moose Lodge. Allen Dale was a member of the Latona Church of Christ, member of the Winterrowd Masonic Lodge #664 in Dieterich for 41 years and was a Shriner and a member of the Ainad Temple. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and farming. He loved to spend time with his family and friends at the cabin at Wetherholt Lake.

Allen Dale is survied by three children, Tom (wife Lisa) Wetherholt of Wheeler, Scott (wife Lisa) Wetherholt of Newton and Lori (husband Todd) Marshall of Wheeler; sister, Doris (husband Harold) Chaney of Glen Ellyn; brother-in-law, Dean (wife Pauline) Shadle of Ingraham; sister-in-law, Beulah Shadle of Ingraham; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Allen Dale was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Ruth; granddaughter, Amy Alice Wetherholt; great-grandson, Jonathan Eldon Scott Stuckey; sisters, Virginia Shamhart, Patsy Marshall, Madonna Babbs and Clarrean Brooks and brothers, Medford and Eldon Wetherholt.
