Delbert Eugene Stremming, 86, of Strasburg, IL, died at 7:54 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2016 in HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 2 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL and also from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday in the church. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Grace Cemetery Fund or American Diabetes Association.

Delbert was born on January 30, 1930 in Shelby County, IL, the son of Wilbur Emil and Bertha Edna Vogel Stremming. He graduated from Strasburg High School in the Class of 1948. Delbert farmed in the Strasburg area for many years. He also worked for York Bin Company, Yellow Freight, Richland Twp., and was a salesman for Pioneer Seed Corn Company. Delbert married Doris Marie Reel on December 31, 1949. They enjoyed playing cards, taking trips and square dancing and were members of the Seasoned Citizens in Strasburg, IL and Shelby County Prime Timers. Delbert was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg, IL where he held many offices. He was also a former member of the Strasburg Lions Club and an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and Illini Basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter, Christa Tieffel (Don) of Effingham, IL; sons, Jeff Stremming (Kathy) of Teutopolis, IL and Jon (Sherrie) Stremming of Effingham, IL; sisters-in-law, Shirley Stremming of Strasburg, IL, Louise Stremming of Las Vegas, NV and Dorothy Stremming of Altamont, IL; nine grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Nichols; and brothers, James and Lawrence Stremming.
