Genevieve “Gen” Rincker, 94, of Effingham, IL, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 2 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham, with the Rev. Theodore Gall officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery on Dutch Lane in Effingham. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Genevieve to the St. John’s Food Pantry in Effingham.

Genevieve was born on January 15, 1922, in Tower Hill, IL, to Henry and Sylvia (Allison) Behl. She married Ward F. Rincker on April 19, 1941, in St. Charles, MO, and he preceded her in death on January 30, 2012. Genevieve worked as a cook and dietitian for St. Anthony Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed her work there especially visiting patients regarding special diets. She was a gentle loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed traveling and the 13 years she wintered in Florida. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham.

Genevieve is survived by her 3 daughters, Janice (Clint) Thrasher of Enid, OK, Joyce (Ronnie, deceased) Wenthe of Watson, Judy (Donnie) Ealy of Effingham; daughter-in-law, Jane Rincker of Neoga; grandchildren, Dale (Carol) Laue of Altamont, Karen (Bud) Grossman of Lubbock, TX, Brian Wenthe of Watson, Brad (Vicki) Wenthe of Watson, Kevin (Becky) Wenthe of Effingham, Diane (Barry) Brandt of Effingham, Sherri (Tim) Schumacher of Effingham, Greg Ealy of Toledo, Angie West of Rantoul, Deanna (Rob) Gillis of Olney, and Bill (Chrissy) Rincker of Mechanicsburg; step-grandson, Adam Corley of Champaign; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and Gen’s caregiver, Julie Terry of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ward; son, Bill Rincker; son-in-law, Ronnie Wenthe; step-grandson, Eric Corley; and 3 sisters, Audrey Dennison, Viola Cox, and Bernadine Collins.
