Betty Jean Foster (83) of Morris, Illinois

Betty Jean Foster, age 83, of Morris, IL formerly of Mattoon passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Regency Care of Morris.

 

Funeral services for family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Froeschle officiating. Burial will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

 

Betty was born on October 6, 1933 in Shumway, IL the daughter of Noah Francis and Berniece (Appelt) Bales. She married Gene Foster on April 17, 1953. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2012.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Angie Taylor of Morris, IL; grandchildren, Caleb Francis, Brooke Leasure and John Embrey; brothers, Larry Bales of Lakeland, FL and Chuck (Doris) Bales of Teutopolis, IL; sister-in-law, Pat Bales of Jay, FL; and two great-grandchildren, Dalton and Dailin Leasure. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 54 years; brothers, Don Bales, Bob Bales, Sam Bales and David Bales; and sister, Margie Tays.

 

Betty worked for many years as a bookkeeper and receptionist at Heller Holmes and Associates. She was a former member of the Presbyterian Church of Mattoon and the American Business Women’s Association. Betty was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Bingo and gambling on the riverboats. Most of all, Betty cherished time spent with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

 

Memorial donations in her honor are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
