Janeen was born on August 18, 1961 in Avon, IL, the daughter of Roy Rex and Dorothy (Giese) Emory. She married Brandon Kolb on January 18, 2000 in Nashville, TN, and he survives.
Janeen graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in General Agriculture, followed by completing her Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Illinois University. While attending the University of Illinois she was in the marching band, where she later returned to perform in the University’s Alumni Band. She was an Extension Unit Leader for the U of I and most recently employed at Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation. Janeen was the leader of the Happy Hoppers 4-H Group in Effingham. Being so involved with agriculture and 4-H, she helped with the Illinois State Fair Junior Beef show for over 30 years. Over those 30 years she never missed one event. During her down time, she loved cooking, gardening, fishing, and reading. Janeen was a hardworking professional and a loving wife, but more importantly she loved spending time with her daughter, Kinzie. She loved showing Kinzie life lessons and how to be a good leader. Knowingly, Kinzie is her legacy.
Janeen is survived by her husband, Brandon Kolb of Effingham; daughter, Kinzie Kolb of Effingham, IL; step-son, Brody Kolb of Effingham, IL; mother, Dorothy Emory of Prairie City, IL; sister, Marilyn (Bob) Brink of Piedmont, KS; brothers, Walter (Nancy) Emory of Tecumseh, OK and Delbert Emory of London Mills, IL; and nephew, Dustin (Jessica) Emory of London Mills, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Rex Emory; and sister-in-law, Sharolyn Harper Emory.
