Ruby Faye Newlin, 90, of Fontanet, Indiana, formerly of Jewett, died at 2:10pm Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Meadow Manor East in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Funeral services celebrating Ruby’s life will be held at 10:00 AM – Wednesday, November 23 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Ron Mulvey officiating. Burial will be in the Gila Lutheran Cemetery south east of Gila, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Tuesday at the funeral home. In loving memory of Ruby, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ruby was born on September 6, 1926, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Hal and Iva (Short) Staley. She married Leland O. Newlin on April 26, 1947, and he preceded her in death on January 26, 1992. Ruby was a proud homemaker and selfless caregiver. She loved to plant and harvest her vegetable garden and she canned everything. She kept a yard full of beautiful flowers. She also sewed and made many quilts. Ruby attended Burnett Bible Church and she loved her family, each and everyone.
Ruby is survived by: Children – Jewell (John) Pine of Fontanet, Indiana and Darrell (Bette) Newlin of Effingham Illinois...Grandchildren – Kevin (Sarah) Pine, Nancy Pine, Kendra Newlin (Fiancé Brandon), Lee (Angie) Newlin, Grace (Jim) Gormly, Brandi (Kevin) Peddycoart...Sister – Laura (Lloyd) Shamhart of Troy, Illinois...and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Lloyd, Glen, Charles, Paul and Ronald Staley.
