Jack Lee Gilbert, 75, of Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 5:48 PM - Monday, November 7, 2016, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM – Monday, November 14 at the Aten Cemetery in Hidalgo, Illinois, with Rev. Tim Voll officiating. Military rites will honored by the members of the Jasper Post #20 American Legion of Newton, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home–Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois.

Jack was born on September 12, 1941, in Hidalgo, Illinois, the son of Clifford and Celia (Hires) Gilbert. Jack was a carpenter and worked in maintenance for many years. He served his country in the United States Army from August 10, 1966, to July 26, 1968. Jack was a member of the American Legion Post #69 in Columbus, Mississippi. He enjoyed fishing.

Jack is survived by: Sisters – Vera Eubank of Newton, Illinois and Virginia Crest of Tacoma, Washington. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gene, Bill and Jim Gilbert and a sister Linda Smith.
