LeRoy B. "Short" Overbeck (75) of Teutopolis

LeRoy B. “Short” Overbeck, 75, of Teutopolis, IL, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at his home.

According to LeRoy’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, IL. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday with a 6:00 p.m. parish wake service at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham. Memorials may be made in loving memory of LeRoy to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Shriners Hospital for Children.

LeRoy was born on November 8, 1940, in St. Francis Township, Effingham County, IL, the son of Richard and Florence (Hille) Overbeck. He married Theresa Breer on November 11, 1961, in Teutopolis, IL, and she preceded him in death on November 17, 1996. LeRoy was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis. He retired from Stevens Industries, Inc. in Teutopolis after more than 40 years of service. LeRoy enjoyed farming and woodworking.

LeRoy is survived by his children, Brenda (Byron Cordes) Weber of Altamont, Kent (Lois Meyer) Overbeck of Teutopolis, Greg Overbeck of Teutopolis, and Kurt (Angie) Overbeck of Teutopolis; grandchildren, Jennie (Aaron) Hible, Richard Overbeck, and Nicholas Overbeck; sister, Jan (Larry) Hanfland of Sigel; and brother, Mike (Cindy) Overbeck of Teutopolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theresa; and brother, Frank Overbeck.
