Lois L. Flood, 83, passed away at 8:03 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at her home in Effingham.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 2 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Rose Cemetery, Montrose. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 6:30 p.m. parish rosary service. Memorials may be made to HSHS St. Anthony Hospice.

Lois was born on March 19, 1933 in Montrose, the daughter of Elmer and Gladys (McClellan) Yocum. She married Lloyd Flood on May 10, 1952 and he survives. Lois was a vibrant lady. Whether she was working one of her many jobs outside the home, including Kern Manufacturing or Effingham Rehabilitation Center, or raising a family, she constantly kept busy. After moving home to Cumberland County from New York, Lois and Lloyd started a family. Lois was a devoted and loving mother of three, who took part in many of her kid’s actives including being a 4-H leader. Lois was an avid Cardinals fan and ball fan in general. You could always catch her and Lloyd in the stands cheering on one of their seven grandkids, whether it was football, basketball, baseball or softball. She loved to spoil her grandkids, whether it was taking them to Trailways to eat and play the quarter machine or taking them every year to see the Christmas lights in the park; she was always there to put a smile on their faces. Lois was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Effingham and a beloved member of the community.
Lois is survived by her husband, Lloyd of Effingham; son, Dan (Toots) Flood of Teutopolis; two daughters, Nancy (Ray) Moses and Kay (Brad) Hornbeck, both of Greenup; sister, Sharon (Richard) Collins of Montrose; seven grandchildren, Steven (Daphne) Flood, Stephanie (Justin) Willenbrink, Natalie (Zach) Mills, Kristin Moses, Houston (Kelli) Moses, Lacey Hornbeck and Cody Hornbeck; five great-grandchildren, Garrett Flood, Colt Moses, Jager, Krew, and Aizlie Mills; six step-grandchildren, Paul Bloemer Jr., Kim Beckman, Gary Bloemer, Steve Bloemer, Gina M. Koester, Amanda Weishaar; sixteen great-step-grandchildren also survive.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William Yocum.
Lois will be deeply missed by her family and friends and will forever be loved and hold a special place in our hearts.
