Ora Yates, Jr., 85, of Kinmundy, Illinois, passed away at 7:05 am, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Odin Health Care Center in Odin.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 27.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 28 at the funeral home.  Military rites will be accorded.  Interment will be in Elder Cemetery, Kinmundy. He was born Saturday, January 24, 1931 in Atwood, the son of Ora and Lillian (Mulvaney) Yates.  He was united in marriage with Barbara Lake July 23, 1954, in Ingraham and to this union were born one son and six daughters.

He was a Sharp Shooter in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict.  He was a lifelong farmer, worked various factory and trucking jobs and retired as Meacham Township Road Commissioner after 16 years, serving from 1977-1993.  He was a member of Meacham Baptist Church and enjoyed camping with friends and family.

He is survived by son, Tom Yates of Springfield; daughters, Debra Robb of Richmand, KY, Kathy (husband Stanley) Robb of Kinmundy, Lorraine (husband Kevin) Day of Kinmundy, Rose Anna (husband Jerry) Wilkinson of Riverton, IL, Kelly Fitzjarrald of Champaign and Shelly (friend Jason Stanbary) Yates of Burlington, IA; brother, Dale (wife Dortha) Yates of Flora; sisters-in-law Anna Mae Yates of Farina and Theresa Lake of Bristol, RI; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Boyd, Richard, Rolland, Lavern, Lowell and sister Pauline Butts.
