Juanita F. Stein (85) of Effingham

Juanita F. Stein, 85, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL, with Dr. Roger Marshall officiating. A VFW Auxiliary presentation will be held at 12:45 p.m. Monday prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Juanita to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Juanita was born on September 7, 1931, in Gamaliel, KY, the daughter of Roy C. and Bula (Hallsell) Turner. She married Adrian E. Stein in 1969 in Marshall, IL, and he preceded her in death on September 16, 1992. Juanita was a member of the First Baptist Church in Effingham. She started her business career with the Dixie Cream Donut Shop & Café which later was the Munch-n-ette. She also owned and operated Juanita’s Clothing Store, Beauty Shop, and Tanning Salon. Juanita was a lifetime member of the Effingham VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1769 and a member of the Effingham American Legion.

Juanita is survived by her son, Larry (Arlene) Ford of Covington, TN; daughter, Brenda (Greg) Thompson of Effingham; daughter-in-law, Becky Ford of Pontiac; grandchildren, Wendy Meinhart of Newton, Ashley (Dennis) Moulton of Effingham, Rodney (Kim) Ford of Covington, TN, Ryan (Cynthia) Ford of Atoka, TN, Jerod (Angie) Ford of New Washington, IN, and Chad (Stacy) Ford of Charlestown, IN; 20 great-grandchildren; and brothers, David (Nancy) Turner of Franklin, IN and Willis Turner of Elizabethtown, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adrian; son, Roger Ford; brothers, Billie, Roy Jr., twins, Clifford and Clifton, and Mitchell; sister, Mary Embertson; and her precious dogs, Kissy, Jasmine, and Jody.
