Robert L. ‘Bob’ Francis, 86, of Altamont, died at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, October 8 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Dan Laack officiating. Family burial of ashes will follow at St. Clare Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be for two hours prior to service time on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Care Center, Altamont or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Robert Louis Francis was born on Tuesday, February 25, 1930 in Gary, Indiana to Glenn C. and Hazel (Winter) Francis. He married Lucille Reiss on January 10, 1953 at St. Clare Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on June 3, 1991. He was retired from restaurant service and food sales. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger V.F.W. Post #7676, Altamont. He was also a member of the Altamont Lions Club and St. Elmo Golf Club and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He is survived by: son, Terry Francis and his wife Cindy of Coal Valley, IL; daughters, Cathy Francis of Mt. Gilead, OH and Mary Beason and her husband George of Mattoon; brother, Richard Francis and his wife Joanne of Altamont; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Eugene in childhood.
