DeWayne “Hoggie” Vanatta, 81, of Greenup, Illinois passed away at 10:15 PM on September 25, 2016 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday September 30 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday evening at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery.

Hoggie was born on July 24, 1935 in Greenup, IL to Glen and Louise (Markwell) Vanatta. He married Barbara Stiffler on March 2, 1968.
Surviving is his wife; Daughter Angie Vanatta and Son Tony Vanatta both of Greenup; five grandchildren Lindsay, Tevin, Breanna, Patients and Destiny Vanatta; two great grandchildren Aria Thomas and Adelyn Vanatta.
Hoggie was preceded in death by his parents and one sister DeEtta Gehres.
Hoggie retired from the State of Illinois Highway Construction Dept. He was a long time member of the Laborers Union.
