Lucille E. Pontious (85) of Effingham

Lucille E. Pontious, age 85, of Effingham, Illinois entered into eternal rest at 3:00 a. m. Monday, September 26, 2016 peacefully at her home in Effingham, Illinois.

Celebration of life service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28 at Watson Baptist Church in Watson, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Watson Baptist Church in Watson, Illinois. Memorials may go to Lincoln Land Home Care, Lincoln Land Hospice of Sarah Bush Lincoln or donor’s choice.

Lucille was born on September 18, 1931 in Effingham County, Illinois the daughter of John and Bessie (Cook) Bricker. She married Ralph W. “Pancake” Pontious on November 18, 1950 in Effingham, Illinois. She was a member of the Effingham V.F.W Auxiliary Post# 1769. She was a homemaker and worked at Norge Factory as well as Illinois Glove Factory. She enjoyed embroidering, cooking, traveling, and above all spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her 4 sons, Clarence Pontious, Ralph Pontious, Todd (wife Arlene) Pontious and Ray Pontious; two daughters, Jo (husband Gale) Budde and Emma (husband Rick) Schmidt; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bessie Bricker; husband, Ralph W. “Pancake” Pontious; son, James Pontious; 2 brothers, Ernest and John Bricker; two sisters, Eva Fulk and Bernadine Gregor and grandson, Zach Lock.
