Norma Jean Huddlestun, 91, of West Liberty, Illinois, passed away at 11:44 PM - Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Brookstone Estates in Olney, Illinois.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM – Thursday, September 22 at the Dundas Cemetery in Dundas, Illinois. There will be no visitation and all friends and relatives are welcome to attend. Memorials may be made to the Newton Community High School Art Department 201 West End Avenue Newton, Illinois 62448.

Norma Jean was born on August 2, 1925, in Charleston, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Bever) Westendorf. She married Dale L. “Deke” Huddlestun on February 14, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas, and he preceded her in death on October 25, 2014. Norma Jean graduated from Newton Community High School in 1943 and later graduated from the Chicago School of Design. She owned and operated the Newton Flower Shop in 1960’s and worked for Dr. Tom Spencer, Optometrist in Newton for several years. Norma Jean was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton. She enjoyed painting, gardening and was an excellent carpenter.

Norma Jean is survived by: Children – Teresa Schafer of West Liberty, Illinois and Gregory (wife Nancy) Huddlestun of Chicago, Illinois...Grandchildren – Sarah Huddlestun of Chicago, Illinois; Joseph (Diana) Schafer of Carlisle, Indiana and Maggie Schafer of Tuscon, Arizona...Great Grandson – Matthew Dale Huddlestun of Chicago, Illinois...Sisters – Marianna Scott of Newton, Illinois and Gretchen (husband Robert) Bernardi of Edwardsville, Illinois.

Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a grandson Matthew Dale Huddlestun.
