Rose E. Cunningham, 88, of Newton died Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Newton Care Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm Sunday, September 18 at Crain Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will be from 1pm until time of service Sunday. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. Memorials to Grace United Methodist Church.

Rose was born on October 30, 1927 in Crawford County, Illinois the daughter of Harvey and Laura (Strange) Roderick. She graduated from Oblong High School in 1944. On November 15, 1947, Rose married Harold Wayne Cunningham in Olney, Illinois. They were married for 65 years until Wayne passed in 2013. Rosie worked in the restaurant business most of her life, owning and operating the Dog N Suds in Newman, IL, the Kustard Stand in Homer, IL, and finally from 1968 until her retirement in 1989 the Tastee Freeze in Newton. Rosie loved working and talking to her good friends and customers, spending time with family, baking, and collecting American Fostoria glassware. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Newton.
Rosie will be loved and remembered by her children Mike Cunningham, wife Shari of Marietta, GA and Candy Cunningham of Mt. Vernon, IL; grandchildren Chad Cunningham, wife Ginger of Cummings, GA and Cami Henrichs, husband Matt of Marietta, GA; four great grandchildren Aidan and Dylan Cunningham of Cummings, GA and Josh and Kate Henrichs of Marietta, GA; two nephews Bob Welker, wife Pauletta of Wisconsin and Terry Welker, wife Renee of Newton, and sister-in-law Sue Cunningham of Decatur, IL.
Her parents, husband Wayne, and sister Imogean Nichols preceded her in death.
