Marvin Wayne Allison, 71, of Newton, Illinois died at 10:03 am on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
 
Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton with the celebration of his life to follow at 4:00 pm. Private family burial will be at the Westlawn Cemetery. Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family.
 
Marvin was born January 23, 1945 in Robinson, the son of Elza Allison, Jr. and Ilene (LeMay) Allison. He married Martha Blade on March 1, 1969. Marvin is survived by his wife, Martha; four children, Russell (Marilyn) Allison of Mattoon, Brian (Kelly) Allison of Brownsburg, IN, Greg Allison of Lynn Haven, FL and Kara (Ted) Weber of Newton; two sisters, Janice (Jerry) Tharp of Yale and Gay (Randy) Bierman of Hidalgo; one brother Melvin (Susan) Allison of Willow Hill; one brother-in-law Clark (Luanne) Blade of Rochester; and thirteen grandchildren Mackenzie, Cade, Brock, and Lane Allison, Conrad and Amelia Allison, Emma, Seth, Logan, Eli, Luke, Elias and Maura Weber. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Marion Allison and one son, Glen Frink.
 
Marvin loved helping children. He taught for over thirty years and was also a principal and a counselor in the Jasper County School District. Marvin was also a musician; directing choirs, giving piano lessons and performing in a gospel group. He was an avid gardener and an active member of this church. His grandchildren and children were his pride and joy.
