Irma Jean Michl, 90, of Newton died at 2:05am Thursday, August 25, 2016 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 27 at Meyer Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be in Brockville Cemetery near Hunt City. Visitation will be held from noon to 2pm Saturday. Memorials to Hospice of Southeastern Illinois.

Irma Jean was born on January 26, 1926, in Sandoval, Illinois the daughter of William A and Elizabeth Civilla (Fantz) Bowers. She married Raymond E. Michl on April 3, 1948 and he preceded her in death on August 20, 2006. Jean attended school in Casey, Illinois. She was a homemaker and worked as a nurse’s aide at Newton Rest Haven. Jean loved all things nature. She spent many hours fishing with cousin Dot, gardening, mushroom hunting and taking walks in the woods. She was a friend to all animals. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, a 30-year member of the Home Extension, member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and past member of the Willow Hill PTA.
She was the beloved mother of Carol Jean Bracken; William Ray (Linda) Michl; Dorothy (Brian) Wagner and David Alan (Tammy) Michl all of Newton, Illinois. She has 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, each one precious to her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in-law William Bracken.
