Peggy Joan Cowger, age 73, passed away at 1:44 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Rob Dillingham will be officiating. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Burial will be at Keen’s Chapel Cemetery in LaClede, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. MemorialS may go to the Farina Food Pantry, KCC Action Packs (checks may be made to Kinmundy Christian Church) or donor’s choice.

Peggy was born on September 8, 1942 in Fayette County, Illinois, the daughter of Virgil and Irene(Nelson) Case. She married James Edward Cowger Sr. on September 25, 1965 at the Nazarene Church in Edgewood, Illinois. She enjoyed reading, singing, playing the piano, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by her two sons, James Cowger Jr (wife Kambi) of Farina, Illinois and John Cowger (wife Mildred) of Farina, Illinois; two brothers, Clayton Case (wife Carol) of Farina, Illinois and Virgil Case Jr. (wife Joyce) of Sandoval, Illinois; three sisters, Sharon Scaggs (husband Jim) of Effingham, Illinois, Cheryl Winchester of Farina, Illinois and Connie Klasen (Larry) of Edgewood, Illinois; son-in-law, Steve Landreth of Edgewood, Illinois; sister-in-law, Diane Case of Rancho Palo Verdes, California and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Irene Case; husband, James Cowger Sr.; daughter, Brenda Landreth; brother, Jerry Case and sister, Patricia Case.
