Maxine Blair, 97, of rural Newton, Illinois, passed away at 10:55 AM - Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM – Wednesday, August 24 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Mark Haskett officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church 203 S. Lafayette Street Newton, Illinois 62448.

Maxine was born on February 19, 1919, in Shelby County, Illinois, the daughter of Robert Earl and Leta (Chapman) Morse. She married Lowell D. Blair on April 18, 1943 in Shelby County, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on October 5, 2000. Maxine had been a Registered Nurse, homemaker and farmers wife. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Newton, Illinois and the Methodist women. Maxine enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening, camping and square dancing.

Maxine is survived by: Daughters – Charlotte McCorkle of Monticello, Illinois, Janet Haskett (husband Dale) of Jewett, Illinois, Donna Roland (husband Gordon) of Johnston City, Illinois...Grandchildren – Kerry (wife Dellma), Kevin (wife Stacy) and Kelly McCorkle; Mark (wife Thresa) Haskett; Kimberly (husband Keith) Kocher; Chad (wife Misty), Clayton (wife Andrea) and Curtis Roland (wife Kirstie)...16 Great Grandchildren...1 Great Great Grandchild...Brothers – Frank Morse of Rossville, Illinois, Richard Morse (wife Sarah) of Finley, Illinois and Dennis Morse (wife Shirley) of Versailles, Missouri.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons-in-law Lafe McCorkle and Tim Roland; brother Kenneth Morse and a sister Marlene Gaston.
