Jerry Woodrow Pittman, of Newton, Illinois passed away at 5:30 AM Monday, August 15,2016 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Private family services were held. In loving memory of Jerry, memorials may be made to the Jasper Post #20 American Legion – Christmas fund for Veterans and mailed to: 108 East Jourdan Street Newton, Illinois 62448. Jerry was born on March 6, 1933 and was raised the son of Burton Russell and Balbina “Bea” (Zuber) Acklin.
 
Jerry served his country in the United States Army from May 25, 1953 until May 12, 1955. He was employed at Prairie Farms for over 20 years. Jerry was a member of the Jasper Post #20 American Legion in Newton, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
 
Jerry is survived by: Children – Jeffrey Pittman of Olney, Illinois and Pennie Brassie of Olney, Illinois. 4 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, and Special Friend – Jackie Tauber of Newton, Illinois.
 
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
