Priscilla Yvonne Coble O'Sullivan died on July 29, 2016 in Mt. Vernon, IL. Per her request, she was buried within 48 hours of her death. She did not want a traditional funeral. She wanted to be buried with the urn carrying our dad's ashes and with her children at the graveside. We said a few words at the burial, Annie sang the 2 songs she requested, and we laid to rest two people who were deeply in love.

Priscilla was an amazing woman becoming one of the first female managers of a Western Union office. She was also a skilled seamstress and costume maker. Later in life,  she would become a deli and bakery manager where she could put to use her incredible skills as a painter and sculptor to make everyone's special cakes truly unique. After my father died, she retired, but didn't slow down. She began making quilts for our hospitalized returning Vets and for children who had long stays in the hospital. When she returned to Louisville, IL., she joined our grandmother, Tampie Corona Coble, and  our Aunt, Glenda Blaydes, who were also making quilts. They also began regularly crocheting hats for babies at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO and HuntingtonH Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA. She spent most of her free time doing genealogy and was a member of the Clay County and Decatur Genealogical Societies.

She now rests with our father, the love of her life, John Lawrence O'Sullivan. He died on August 11, 1997 in Ft. Worth, TX at which time his remains were cremated. After his service to our country, he worked for the USPS. He then became an extraordinary salesman who worked for Rust-Oleum while it was still a family business. A brilliant mathematician and historian, he would have enjoyed going to college, but he chose instead to steal his oldest brother's birth certificate and join his brothers fighting in WWII. He was a Shriner and a Master Carpenter. He had a beautiful tenor voice, and he could often be heard singing as they worked together restoring the old homes they loved to live in. He loved holidays and enjoyed celebrating. He was a joyful spirit. They will be terribly missed.

Together they faced the good and bad. They were always willing to support our interests and placed a lot of importance on learning even though we were three very different people. In addition to supporting us, they extended their love to many of our friends who needed a place to stay. The door was always open, there was always food, and an ear if needed. There are many people who were better for having known them. Many dance recitals that had truly fabulous costumes.

They are survived by their three children- Annie Marie O'Sullivan-Pittman, Patrick Terrence O'Sullivan, and Alice Faye James, as well as their six grandchildren - Ariel Lauren Pittman, John Nicolas O'Sullivan, Calvin Todd James, Maria Emma O'Sullivan, Sarah Nicole James, and Liberty Diane James. Both my dad's brothers and both of their parents have passed away, but my mother's five siblings- William Ronald Coble, James Theodore Coble Jr., Stanley Alton Coble, Glenda Arlene Coble Bryant, and Arilla Rochell Coble Walker, still reside here in the state of Illinois.

Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, IL.
