Ila VanZee, 81, of Lerna died at 6:45am Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Charleston Rehab and Health Care Center.

Graveside funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 28 in the Greenup Cemetery. Barkley Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the Charleston Rehab Activity Fund.

Ila was born on June 18, 1935 in Greenup, Illinois to William and Flossie (Jones) Robey. She married Ronald Thomas on June 22, 1956; he preceded her in death on June 23, 1982. She later married David Van Zee on July 3, 1994; he survives.

Also surviving are sons Roger (Julie) Thomas of Stafford Springs, Connecticut, Russell Thomas of Carterville, Scott (Michelle) Van Zee of Aurora, IL, Stuart Van Zee of Florida; daughters Brenda (Johnny) St. John of Toledo, Jeannette (Ron) Carrell of Oakland; sisters Wilma Carrico and Marjorie Raymer, both of Toledo; grandchildren Andy (Erin) St. John, Amy Allen, Addison St. John, Burke (Lauren) Thomas, Erica (Jeremy) Downen, Bryant (Morgan) Thomas, Lance Thomas, Autumn (Ryan) Risinger, Jaymie Ryan, James Carrell, Brittany (Cory) Bence, Zachary Van Zee, Olivia Van Zee, Helen Van Zee, Shealynn and Alyssa Van Zee; ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bill and Harold Robey, sisters Carolyn Washburn and Juanita Wilson.

Ila worked at Ettelbrick Shoe Factory for 25 years and also had worked at Trailmobile. She loved her flower gardens and having family gatherings. She will be greatly missed.
