Lois Evelyn Thilker, 83, of Effingham, formerly of Mason, died at 3:44am Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Lavender Ridge Memory Care in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Monday, August 1 at J.W. Neal Funeral Home in Louisville. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Sunday. Interment will be at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Louisville. Memorials to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Central Illinois.

Lois was born September 14, 1932 in Bedford, IN, the daughter of the late Fred H. and the late Jenelle Cox. She married Cecil J. Thilker on December 16, 1950 at the First Christian Church in Flora, IL. Cecil preceded her in death on August 8, 2006.

She enjoyed her time as a homemaker, a member of the Mason Christian Church and the Helping Hands, a 4-H leader and a Home Extension Member. She was also a sales associate for 18 years at Walmart.

Lois is survived by her sons, John Thilker of Chenoa, IL, Jim (Chris) Thilker of Olney, Jared (Sharla) Thilker of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Kathy Kessel of Mason, Kristy (John) Slifer of Effingham, Karen Thilker of Effingham, Karla (Scott) Koester of Teutopolis; sisters-in-law, Iva Cox of Phoenix, AZ, Janice Cox of Mason, Mary Thilker of Sykesville, MD, Ellen Glovka of Culver City, CA; grandchildren, Tim, Greg & Beth, Sean & Michelle, Chad, Tonya & Chris, Zane, Kelsey & Patrick, Ryan & Tiffany, Jerron, Courtney & Travis, Ethan & Keregan, Jordan, Braydan, Kinsey, Blake, Logan, Korryna; great grandchildren, Lukas, Juleigha, Liam, Preston, MacKenzie, Konnir, Philip, Aaron, Kalynn, Paxton, Afton and Riley and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, brothers William, David and Jimmy Cox, and son-in-law James Kessel.
