Ronald D. Wenthe, 73, of Watson, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, July 30 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham, with the Rev. Ted Gall officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery on Dutch Lane in Effingham. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the church, as well as one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Ronald to St. John’s Food Pantry or HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospital Hospice.

Ronald was born on September 15, 1942, in Effingham, IL, the son of Ervin and Mildred (Genaust) Wenthe. He married Joyce Rincker on January 21, 1962 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham, and she survives. Ronald spent his lifetime as a grain and livestock farmer. He was very interested in his grandchildren’s sports and racing. He enjoyed watching Cardinal’s baseball and was always seen wearing his cowboy hat and boots. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Effingham County Farm Bureau. He was a past Charter Member of the Watson Lions Club.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Wenthe of Watson; three sons, Brian Wenthe of Watson, Brad (Vicki) Wenthe of Watson, and Kevin (Becky) Wenthe of Effingham; six grandchildren, April (fiancé, Alex Ritz),  Amber, Austin, Bailey, Kori and Wade Wenthe; sister, Carolyn (Paul) Webb of Effingham; step-brother, Walter (Judy) Osteen of Altamont; mother-in-law, Gen Rincker of Effingham; sisters-in-law, Janice (Clint) Thrasher of Enid, OK, Judy (Don) Ealy of Effingham, and Jane Rincker of Olney; and several nieces and nephews.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Wenthe; mother, Mildred Osteen; step-father, Otha Osteen; sister, Marilyn Miller; step-brother, Dennis Osteen; father-in-law, Ward Rincker; and brother-in-law, William Rincker.
