Glen W. Temple, 85, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham with military rites. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at church and from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday prior to the services at church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Glen to Centenary United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Glen was born on December 1, 1930, in Charleston, IL, the son of Harold and Mabel (Miller) Temple. He married Dona Wolfe on March 4, 1955 at the Louisville Methodist Church in Louisville, IL, and she survives. Glen graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1952. Two weeks later he was drafted into the Army and sent to Korea. He was discharged in 1954 as a Staff Sargent. He spent 37 years as a teacher and basketball coach at Louisville Grade School, Central Grade School and Effingham High School. When he retired from teaching in 1989 he became a Tour Escort for Capitol Tours, Springfield, IL making 97 trips to Branson, MO. He and his wife were Professional Clowns, also known as, Jocko and Sunshine for 18 years. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, visiting residents in the nursing homes, and spending time with family and friends. He never knew a stranger. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 120 and Illinois Retired Teachers Association. His daughter, Janet escorted him on the Honor Flight to Washington, DC, May of 2015.

Glen is survived by his loving wife, Dona Temple of Effingham; daughters, Mona (Kenny) Repking and Janet (Doug) Ohnesorge both of Effingham; grandchildren, Kevin (Marilou) Repking, Doug (Aimee) Repking, Angie (Dan) Steineman, Jason (Jami) Brown, Valerie (Ryan) Ideus, Chad Ohnesorge, Ryan (Lisa) Ohnesorge, and Nicole (fiancé, Ethan Sholders) Ohnesorge; 9 great-grandchildren; half-brothers, Stephen Temple and Wayne Temple; and half-sister, Pamela Newby.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Melodie; father, Harold Temple; mother, Mabel Richeal; step-fathers, Glen Sims and Fred Richeal; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Aden and Edna Wolfe.
