Carl D. Wagner (90) of Teutopolis

Carl D. Wagner, 90 of Teutopolis, passed away at 10:53 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Land of Lincoln Honor Flight and will be accepted at the funeral home or can be made online at www.landoflincolnhonorflight.org.

Carl was born October 2, 1925 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the son of Joseph and Zillah (Crouch) Wagner. He proudly served with the United States Navy during WWII aboard the USS Monterey CVL-26 in the Pacific. Carl married Bonnie E. Rowan of Louisville on December 6, 1953 and lived in Aurora where he worked for Layne Western. In 1982, they moved to Teutopolis; Carl worked for Arab Pest Control. He had the privilege of being on the first Central Illinois Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.. Carl was a member of the Effingham V.F.W. Post #1769, the DAV and the Local 150 International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a 61-year member of the Louisville American Legion Post #914.
Carl is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Teutopolis; two sons, Delbert (Barb) of Mt. Carmel and Joe (Donna) of Teutopolis; two grandsons, Adam (Morgan) of Effingham and Brett of Pekin.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carolyn Dardeen and two brothers, Ray and Harry Wagner.
