Charlotte Louise Hediger, 83 of Effingham, formerly of Greenville, passed away at 1:57 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in New Shiloh Cemetery, Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to time of service Saturday morning at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Charlotte was born February 16, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Mable (Watkins) Dierkes. She married Elvin D. Hediger on December 30, 1950 and he survives. Charlotte graduated from Greenville High School and Middle Tennessee State University to become a school teacher. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Effingham.

Charlotte is survived by the love of her life, Elvin, whom she celebrated sixty five years of marriage; her children, Al (Karen) Hediger of Lemont, Pam (John) Danner of Mt. Vernon, Jan (Paul) Davis of Butler, MO and Rich (Kandi) Hediger of Celina, OH; sister, Mabel (Don) Arrowsmith of Evansville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Hank and Richard Dierkes.

Charlotte knew the Lord and was glad that her faith gave her much strength. She was thankful to the end of her days that she had been blessed with a long life and fought the fight to the end.
