Richard F. Schultz, 85, of Teutopolis died Friday morning, July 15, 2016 at his home.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 22 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis. Memorial donations may be made to E.A.R.S., Effingham County Humane Society or the donor’s choice.

Richard was born December 15, 1930 in Chicago, the son of David and Martha (Scherkotzki) Schultz. He married Patricia A. Nash on September 30, 1972 and she survives. Richard was a carpenter for many years and had a love for animals. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council #2864 and a lifetime member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local Union No. 58.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Teutopolis; his children, Debra (Josh) Hoelscher of Effingham, Janet (Brian) McChuen of Watson, Joy (Mike) Russo of Ingleside and Warren “Rick” (Emma) Schmidt of Watson; five grandchildren, Matthew Hoelscher, Bryan McChuen, Kelly McChuen, Cara Klonoski and Derek Schmidt; four great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and niece, Arlene Ogden of Wheeling.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, five sisters and a brother-in-law.
