Ruby LaVerne Hutson, 95, of Greenup, IL passed away at 5:07 pm Saturday July 9, 2016 at her residence.

Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 14 at the Greenup Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life. Visitation from 1:00 to service time on Thursday at the cemetery. The family requests everyone to dress casual. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family. Memorials can be made to Cumberland County Veterans.

 Ruby was born on August 30, 1920 in Springfield, IL to Oliver and Gladys (Sherwood) Shofner. She married Cloyce E. Hutson on July 13, 1941 in Kentucky. They were married 59 years before Cloyce passed away on September 11, 2000.

Surviving are their children Bill (Martha) Hutson of Franklin, TN, Sue (Mike) Bauguss of Greenup, Terri (Gary) Etchason of Effingham and Trudy (Dan) Green of Greenup; sister Verna Thomas of Morton, IL; Grandchildren Brian (Kim) Hutson, Kyle (Heather) Hutson, Stacey Hutson, Tammie (Tim) Reeves, Jimmy (Courtney) Hutson, Michael Bauguss Jr, Davis Bauguss, Nicholas Bauguss, Gustin (Ashley) Bauguss, Bryce (Samantha) Carlen, Chris (Tausha) Green, Danielle (Jerry) McClain, Crystal (Neal) Lamb, Bryan (Rachel) Green and R.D. Carlen (deceased) wife Cammy Carlen; 35 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and son Jim Hutson and his wife Avis; Brothers Sherwood and Maurice Shofner; sisters Vivian Brosamer, Camelia Boyd and Vera Ward.

Ruby was a homemaker and a cook for the Cumberland School Dist. She also worked at the Cumberland Rehab and Health Care in both the Kitchen and Laundry. She was a member and Treasurer of the Cumberland County Democrat Club, a 4 H leader, was in the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW and Cumberland Rehab.
