Ida “Karen” Harris, 66, of Effingham, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016, at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Effingham.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 23 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Karen to the donor’s choice.

Karen was born on July 29, 1949, in Mt. Vernon, IL, the daughter of Luther and Alreva M. (Allen) Fagan. Karen grew up in Effingham and graduated from Effingham High School. She studied at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL and Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. She lived for many years in Madison, IN where she was a medical secretary for the Madison Clinic. She returned to Effingham later in life. She most recently worked in the produce department at Martin’s IGA in Effingham. Karen enjoyed watching figure skating and singing competitions on television.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Schanan Harris of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Gerald (Leona) Fagan of Hammond, IL; nephews, Sam, Daniel, Dale, Doug, Jesse, and Carl; and niece, Kristi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Jim Fagan.
