Harry Eugene Brown, 96, of Tucson, Arizona died at 9:14am Friday, June 17, 2016 peacefully at his home.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 24 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham, Illinois. Reverend Ted Gall will be officiating. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery in Effingham, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Memorials may go to Wounded Warriors or donor’s choice.

Harry was born on October 4, 1919 in Effingham, the son of James and Laura (Brant) Brown. He married Geneva A. Pagel on July 17, 1941 in Hobart, Indiana. He entered the service of Army/Airforce on May 26, 1943. His rank was S/Sgt and received the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign medal, two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct medal and a Victory medal. Harry lived in Effingham most of his life where he raised his family and worked at Narge/Fedders for 35 years before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion post 120, DAV chapter 7, and VFW post 1769. After Geneva’s death in May 1976, he later married Lorraine Selcke in July 1977 and they moved to Tucson, Arizona. Lorraine also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son Paul Brown (wife Karen) of Merced, California; daughter, Ann Stine of Effingham, Illinois; step-son, Jim Selke (wife Kathy) of Chicago, Illinois; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Laura Brown; maternal and paternal grandparents; brother, Charles Brown, and grandson Jimmy Selcke.
