Roy was born on September 1, 1935, in Conant, IL, the son of Carl F. and Ruth (Shuemaker) Huffstutler. Roy was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Effingham and Effingham Elks Lodge 1016. Roy retired from World Color Press in Effingham after 37 years of service. Roy was a man that was loved by everyone because he never met a stranger and was always willing to help out a neighbor. In Roy’s heart his neighbor included anyone he met. Every day was lived to its fullest. He was at the IGA “coffee table” by 5:30 a.m. each day; then it was home to attend to his yard and to work on his wood carvings or walking sticks. Roy believed in investing in his community. He loved his work at the FISH Christmas Store. Another of Roy’s joys was rock collecting and lapidary endeavors. Over the years he helped countless Effingham school children put together rock collections for school projects. His daughters can recall the neighbor children knocking on the door asking if Roy could play. One of the highlights of Roy’s week was The Edgewood Opry where he enjoyed spending time with the people he considered his friends and family.

Roy is survived by his daughters, Tammy (husband John) Payne of Marion and Tracey (husband Jamie) Lidster of Effingham; sister, Debbie Hepp of Ohio; grandchildren, Brooke Barlow, Alex (wife Ana) Payne, Andrew (wife Sheila) Payne, Allison (husband John) Zeigler, Alexis (husband Justin) Henderson, Adam (wife Kleigh) Robertson, and Austin Robertson; great-grandchildren, Julia Barlow, Olivia and Conner Henderson, Thomas and Isabella Payne, Lucie, Eli and Caleb Payne, William Robertson, and Nathan, Andrew and Hannah Zeigler; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lloyd Brown and Bob Huffstutler; and sister, Joy Farthing.
