teven Lynn Orr, 62, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 7:14 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at home peacefully surrounded by his family.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13 at St. Elmo Christian Church in St. Elmo. Tom Fedrigon will be officiating. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, June 12 at St. Elmo High School. Steven was born August 25, 1953 in St. Elmo, the son of Jack and Iris (Denton) Orr. He married Debbie Durbin May 1, 1982 at the First Christian Church in St. Elmo. He was a member of the St. Elmo Christian Church. He loved going to concerts, golfing, watching and coaching school sports, and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid Cardinal’s baseball fan. He taught at St. Elmo High School for 34 years and Dieterich High School for six years.

He is survived by his parents, Jack and Iris Orr of St. Elmo,; wife, Debbie Orr of St. Elmo; brother, Sam Orr of Granite City; sister, Sharon Buenker (husband Jeff) of Effingham; two brothers-in-law, Gene Durbin (wife Vicki) of St. Elmo and Mark Durbin (wife Jeannie) of Mason; one sister-in-law, Brenda Moore (husband Vance) of Brownstown; mother-n-law, Marie Durbin of St. Elmo; three nephews, Josh Durbin (fiancé Jennifer) of Brownstown, Justin Durbin of Altamont and Joel Buenker of Effingham; five nieces, Jeni Haslett (husband Toby) of St. Elmo; Shelbi Durbin (fiancé Cody) of Mason, Gabi Moore (boyfriend Curt) of Brownstown, Reese Buenker of Effingham and Quincy Buenker of Effingham; three great-nieces, Joslyn Durbin of Brownstown, Aubree Durbin of Mason, Parker Haslett of St. Elmo, one baby Haslett on the way and his special companion, Gizzie.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Faye and C.L. Denton and Eva and James Orr and his father-in-law, Bill Durbin.
