William Dickmann, 91, of Altamont died at 1:55am Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

Private funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with  Rev. Dr. Lowell Donnelley officiating with burial following at Union Cemetery, Altamont. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, St. Louis. Online condolences may be expressed at www.giesekingfh.com

William Grover Dickmann was born Tuesday, December 8, 1924 in Jackson Township, rural Altamont to Fred W. and Edith Nevada (Parks) Dickmann. He was a World War II Navy veteran having served aboard the USS Little Rock. He married Anna L. Heischmidt November 3, 1946. He was a retired farmer and pastor, member of the Blue Point Baptist Church, Shumway, Masonic Lodge #533, Altamont and Scottish Rite Valley of Southern Illinois.

He leaves behind his wife of over 69 years, Anna; children, Nancy (husband Glenn) Winter of Moline, Gayla (husband Neal) Westbrook of St. Charles, Mo., Fred (wife Esther) Dickmann of Altamont and Rebecca Humphries of Beecher City; five grandchildren and their families, Angela (husband Neil) James, Matt (wife Cari) Winter, Vanessa (husband Chris) Kalantzis, Michael (wife Joann) Humphries, Lauren (husband Brett) Briggs and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, John O. Dickmann, Allen Dickmann, Lawrence Dickmann, Elizabeth Barnard, brother and sister-in-law Martin and Irene Heischmidt, son-in-law Robert Wayne Westbrook and grandson, John David Humphires.

The family extends a special thanks to Dr. John Opilka and the staff of Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
