Lawrence E. "Bud" Green, 81, a lifelong resident of Trilla, Illinois, entered into eternal rest at 4:30 A.M. Saturday, June 4, 2016, in his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 8 in the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Trilla, IL, with Pastor Adam McReynolds officiating. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, IL and at the Church on Wednesday one hour before the services. Burial will be in the Beals Cemetery of Trilla, Illinois. The Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church P.O. He was born September 5, 1934, in Trilla, the son of Merle N. and Juanita Fern (Brown) Green. Bud married Barbara E. Stewart September 2, 1956 at the First Christian Church in Neoga,  Illinois. Mr. Green was employed by  Effingham-Clay FS in Trilla, retiring in 1995 as a crop specialist; however, he continued farming the homestead farm and it became a Centennial Farm in 2012. Bud was forced to quit farming in 2013 due to his health. Bud was a member of the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Trilla, IL and a member of the Beals Cemetery Board, where he served as Treasurer for several years. Bud also served as precinct Committee man for the  Pleasant Grove Township and a member of Cumberland County Farm Bureau. Mr. Green was a Past Master and a 50 plus year member of the Wabash Masonic Lodge # 179 at Etna, IL and held a dual membership in the Toledo Masonic Lodge # 824 of Toledo, IL. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a  member of the Valley of Danville Consistory. He was also a 50 plus year member and a Past Patron of the Toledo Eastern Star Lodge #231 of Toledo, IL.

Bud leaves his loving wife of over fifty-nine years, Barbara Green of Trilla, IL; one son, Jim Green and wife Jackie of Trilla, IL; two daughters, Deb Berkheimer of Trilla, IL and Kristi Peterson and husband Eric of Louisville, KY; sister, Janet Tinch of Trilla, IL; brother-in-law, Joe Wallace of Mattoon, IL; eight grandchildren, Josh Green and wife Heather of Dewey, IL, Jessica Sergeev of Carbondale, IL, Ryan Berkheimer and wife Cortney of Mattoon, IL, Jamie Thompson and husband Jason of Trilla, IL, Brent Berkheimer of Trilla, IL, Caleb, Daniel and Rachel Peterson of Louisville, KY, and Staci Berkheimer of Trilla, IL;  eight great grandchildren, Logan, Carter, Hailey, Lily, Talyn, Chayse, Mackenzie and Ivan.

Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother; three sisters, Marilyn Doughty, Judy Williams and Jessie Wallace; son-in-law, Tim Berkheimer; and grandson-in-law, Ivan Sergeev.
