Lawrence H. Ruholl, 91 of Teutopolis, passed away 1:23 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at his home in rural Teutopolis.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 31 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the church. There will be a 3:45 p.m. rosary with visitation immediately following. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lawrence was born May 22, 1925 in Sigel, the son of Leo and Mary (Rieman) Ruholl. He married Anna E. Vogt on September 6, 1952 and she survives. Lawrence was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis and the Holy Name Society. During the depression era Lawrence was employed as a hired hand for the local farmers. He later was an owner and operator of a milk hauling route. He was employed for Effingham Equity, and retired after 30 years of service. He was well-known and respected in the farming community. Lawrence was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was strong in his faith. He enjoyed the card game Solo, gardening, hunting, and had several prize coon hounds throughout the years. Lawrence preferred the simple things of life, and always put family first.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Anna; seven sons Mike (Vonnie) of Teutopolis, Don of Effingham, Vernon (Wanda) of Teutopolis, Linus (Deb) of Dieterich, Steve (Donna) of Waverly, Charlie of Dieterich, and Wayne (Amy) of Dieterich; four daughters, Carolyn (Bill) Jones of Naperville, Louise (Dave) Repking of Teutopolis, Mary (John) Flach of Teutopolis, and Marita Ruholl of Effingham; sister Loretta Koester of Sigel; two brothers Andrew (Betty) Ruholl of Sigel, and Arthur (Linda) Ruholl of Teutopolis.; thirty-three grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parent, grandson Christopher Repking; brother Leonard (Jane) Ruholl, three sisters Irene (Clarence) Niemerg, Christine (Norbert) Koester, and Lucille (John) Goeckner; brother-in-law Walt Koester.
