Donald Dale Ruff, 85, of Strasburg, IL, died at 6:55 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 in HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 24 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL or Trinity Lutheran School, Stewardson, IL.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.

Don was born on September 14, 1930 in Strasburg, IL, the son of Louis F. and Ida L. Rincker Ruff. He graduated from Strasburg High School in the Class of 1948 and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Don farmed in the Strasburg area and was a Pioneer Seed Corn salesman. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL. Don married Melba Maurine Schultz on February 10, 1957. She died on February 11, 2014.

He is survived by his children, Janice (Mark) Moomaw of Stewardson, IL, Ronald (Ginniveve Reinhardt) Ruff of Ruidoso, NM and Lisa (Bryant) Kennell of Eureka, IL; grandchildren, Adam (Alyssa) Moomaw of Sullivan, IL, Zachary Moomaw of Mattoon, IL, Erin Kennell of Monmouth, IL, Austin Kennell of Gilman, IL and Ryan, Logan and Dustin Kennell all of Eureka, IL; great grandsons, Owen and Abram Moomaw of Sullivan, IL; sisters, Ruth Terhune of Effingham, IL and Melba Storm of Strasburg, IL; and sisters-in-law, Frieda Ruff of Decatur, IL, Maxine Ruff of Stewardson, IL and Oma Ruff of Altamont, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Melba; granddaughter, Kristin Moomaw; three brothers, Maurice, Calvin and Mervin Ruff; and four sisters, Celia Buesking, Sylvia Ulmer, Leona Breitwisch and Grace Kull.
